Spending time in the French countryside always makes me crave a more simple way of life... does a certain locale make you feel that way too?

  2. Your photos always have such a sweet serenity and sense of calm, Catherine. I can't figure out if it's you or the French landscape! My own places of peace are on forest paths or mountain trails, but I can find simplicity and calm almost anywhere I happen to be.

  3. If I'm stressed the place I head for is Greenwich Park just down the road from me in London and I head for the quieter, less touristy bits - it's amazing what a green space can do for you, even in the midst of London's hubbub

  5. Yes, having a simpler life was one of the reasons why we moved to Istria and there are no regrets.

  6. Yes! This is one of the reasons, we are moving to a small beach town and shedding our belongings to live in a tiny cottage and enjoy Mother Earth's beauties rather than objects & things. Thank you for the lovely reminder, Catherine!

    1. Ohh that sounds just divine Jamie... I can't wait to see the photos of your new surroundings. Good luck with your move! p.s. Having had to purge most of our belongings for our move overseas felt so freeing :)

  7. I really enjoyed this group of photos. Nothing is prettier than pink hydrangea bushes and I love the perspective of the church doors under a canopy of trees.

  9. Oh yes - every time when we go to our house in France! I pack too much and after a day I know that I will wear the same jeans and shirt for the whole time. I love the exchange with neighbours who bring vegetables and eggs and wine and after a week I feel at peace .Life in the countryside is imple and lovely.

  15. Your images make me long for that, for sure. I know what you mean. There have been places I have visited where I thought that I could totally live because of the lifestyle. So much rushing in my real life.

  16. ah for a simpler life! I understand completely. Going to the country always makes me feel this way. I don't have to go far. Only 20kms away we come to where the farms start. Oh to have a country house and bush paths to walk along.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy your time in the country. The hydrangeas are beautiful.

  19. This photo series does evoke a simplier lifestyle, Catherine, mainly because they are removed from ths chaos of city life. My Favorite places are travel along back roadways, which can be found if one is adventurous enough to seek them out.
