a mélange of finds + favorites:
  1. Tunisian crochet stitch - a stitch I'd love to learn for a Fall blanket. The Purl Bee offers a basic tutorial if you're interested and want to try it too!
  2. The Family of Man - a timeless collection of 503 photographs from the 1955 Edward Steichen MoMA exhibit created to promote peace, equality and brotherhood and showcase "the essential oneness of mankind throughout the world."
  3. Scarf as a camera strap - I still have the original Canon strap that came with my camera, which lately I'm finding a bit unwieldy and not that comfortable... love this scarf idea from Garance Doré, what do you think?

  1. I'm such a klutz -- a scarf as a camera strap is just asking for trouble around here. But I can see you carrying off the look with grace. :)

    1. You've inspired me to pick up my crochet needle again Kim... we'll see how the tunisian stitch works out. I have high hopes, but am keeping the V-stitch in my back pocket just in case :)

  4. I have a different strap than what came on my camera - so I'm all about getting away from standard rough labeled straps. At this point I'm actually looking for something that just goes around my wrist because I find it too hot having something around my neck (mid-life - gotta love it!). Your scarf idea is very chic.

    1. I know exactly what you mean Nicki, I end up constantly pulling and tugging on my strap because it can get SO hot around my neck! I'm going to try the scarf idea for sure - or will have to resort to something sturdy but super soft. Will keep you updated :)

    1. Ha! I wish I could take credit for the idea Laurie, but I saw it on Garance Doré's blog. If it starts a trend, it's all Garance!

  9. When in Paris I was treated to a new foulard ( scarf) at one of the nicest scarf shops in the world....maybe I should try that for a camrea strap? I guess husband ( who paid!) would faint.Nevertheless- a great idea. Thanks for your kind words and have a great Sunday

    1. So funny Karen! But maybe husband doesn't need to know which foulard you're using,.. right ;)

  10. Love that idea for a scarf but could see myself not tying it correctly and dropping the camera. Lately, I've been using the phone more and the big guy less - cannot be burdened by the weight when I'm hiking. I'm trying to practice composition, though the big lens makes a better, crisper photo. What a great blog you have, Catherine - glad to discover you!
