The Wedding Gown | La Robe de Mariée

6.24.2013

In light of wedding season and a childhood friend of mine recently getting engaged* (with questions about rings and styles), I looked back at these wedding photos from a few years back...

On her wedding day, this bride looked radiant, and I thought her luminescent pearl gown was so pretty and feminine. It matched her personality and taste well - simple and classic with flourishes that added an elegant detail. I later found out the bride had chosen this dress early on in the wedding process, but later had regrets, reconsidered and chose another only to later come back to this dress. Oh the doubts and indecision! We sometimes need to learn to better trust our initial feelings.

* [ Congratulations Al! I hope this helps in some way when making the multitude of wedding decisions you'll be facing... your first choice may be the best one!]

  1. Catherine, I just love these - so beautiful and elegant. You are right - often our first instinct is the best!
As for the country vs the city, I think I prefer the countryside now - just so relaxing and serene.

    1. I remember feeling the same way with my wedding dress (though I never went out and looked for another one)... having all those decisions to make can be so overwhelming. Fortunately this bride was extremely happy with all of her final choices at the end of the day :)

  11. I need to catch up on Catherine writings to get centered and inspired! You amaze me. Your thoughtful words and emotional photos. I'm looking forward to sitting down with my cup of coffee and reading your days.

p.s. bless your friend's heart regarding the wedding gowns. Sounds like a fellow Libran to me;) I would have done the same thing. In the end, she chose a beautiful gown! The details that you captured of the gown are to be treasured for a lifetime.

    1. Thank you so much Lulu! So far so good... my friend was never one to stress (lucky him!), but hopefully this advice (unsolicited but well meaning :) will help him + his fiancé in some way as they're now in the throes of deciding on the wedding venue, number of guests and who to invite (oh how I remember how very stressful that was!)...
